Science at Sea: How Some Motivated Teachers Spent Their Summer Vacation

What do you get when you put 100 science teachers from all over the country on a boat in the waters of southeast Alaska?
No, this isn't the set-up for a joke. It's the setting for Science at Sea, an incredible program run by our good friend (and mad scientist extraordinaire) Steve Spangler.
Steve is well-known nationally for his 11 appearances on the Ellen DeGeneres Show, and long-time Colorado residents will recognize him from his ongoing stint on 9News. But perhaps the most long-lasting impact Steve makes on education is through the work he does with teachers from all over the country -- and, increasingly, from all over the world.
Whether it's teacher-enhancement events like Science at Sea or Science in the Rockies, or appearing at conventions or training sessions for groups large and small, Steve has proven to be the master of one of The Big Brain Club's central tenets -- showing that learning is both fun and cool!
With Science at Sea, he collected 100 of the top teachers from across the country and set out to immerse them in a seven-day program steeped in first-hand experience: about wildlife, about ecosystems, about the envirnoment. The idea is that the teachers can then take that experience back with them to the classroom this fall, where their students will benefit as well.
The link above has more information about the program, as well as a video from 9News. But really, consider this a 100% unsolicited recommendation for anything and everything that Steve's involved with. He really is the master at making learning a total blast, and he's making a huge impact on classrooms from coast to coast.
