Introducing Cooper James

In 2006 I jotted down a few notes for what would become a new mystery series for young adults (and older adults, for that matter). I knew right away the lead character would be Cooper James. I also knew that another primary character would be named Aja. It turned out that Aja McClellan narrated the story - it was necessary, in fact, for her to do so.

But in 2006 I was knee-deep in my Galahad series of books, which I'm very proud of. Once the final installment of that series, The Galahad Legacy, was finished, I turned my attention to the Cooper James Mysteries.

Two CJM books are completed, a third is in the works, and I have yet to attempt to sell the series. Why? Because I've wanted to make sure the arc was complete before I published the first volume.

But an author usually wants to publicly present his or her work. For the first time, I'm ready to share the Introduction to the first Cooper James novel - as yet it's untitled. It hints at what's to come. In subsequent posts I'll share the first few chapters, too, because I'm ready for Cooper, Aja, and Desmond to breathe.

For now, please enjoy this morsel of Cooper James. Below you'll find a link to the file, and I hope you'll share it, too, with friends and family. It's in PDF form, so you can read it on your computer or phone, or download it to an ereader. Please don't be shy in posting comments . . . even negative ones. I can take it. ;)

Cheers, and thank you very much.

This looks like a series I can buy for my son and read it myself!

I enjoyed it and want to read more. I like the black hole reference. I'll pass it on to some middle school students to see how they like it.
