Newsweek has released its list of the Top 1,500 public schools in America. As to the criteria those rankings are based on, they've created a ratio consisting of the number of advanced placement, international baccalaureate and/or Cambridge tests taken by all students at a given school in 2008 divided by the number of graduating seniors.

Whether you're a fan of that methodology or not, let's just say it's safe to assume that these are all very, very good schools. And it's interesting to note that each of the top two schools (and three of the top 10) are in the Dallas area.

Conspicuously absent: Ridgemont High.
